Product Story
Barbara Egan, an Aboriginal artist from Robinvale, Victoria, grew up along the Murray River, whose gentle flow continues to inspire her Dreaming stories.
In Gathering by the River – Blue, she paints a vivid scene of Aboriginal life by the water — a place of ceremony, story, and deep connection.
The artwork celebrates how Aboriginal people honour their land not only as a place but as a living part of themselves — mountains, rivers, waterholes, trees, and animals are all family.
At the river’s edge, communities gather to share stories, perform dances, and celebrate life’s rhythm in harmony with nature.
Designer’s Inspiration
I love how Barbara brings her world to life — I can almost see the gatherings by the riverbanks, hear the laughter, and feel the calm of belonging.
These stories transcend generations, reminding us to stay grounded, to honour where we come from, and to let nature restore us.
Even in our modern lives, we can return to that sense of home — where the river gives us life.
Handmade with love by artisan mothers in Australia.
