Barbara Egan, an Aboriginal artist from Robinvale, Victoria, grew up along the Murray River, whose gentle flow continues to inspire her Dreaming stories.
In Gathering by the River – Blue, she paints a vivid scene of Aboriginal life by the water — a place of ceremony, story, and deep connection.

The artwork celebrates how Aboriginal people honour their land not only as a place but as a living part of themselves — mountains, rivers, waterholes, trees, and animals are all family.
